Darrin Long

Darrin joined CDCB as Principal Software Engineer in July 2026, where he’s part of the team shaping the next generation of CDCB’s data ingestion solutions. He got his start in software in 1999 as a web developer, and as the internet grew up, he shifted into backend development to keep pace with what the work demanded. More than 25 years later, he’s coded in various languages and frameworks and worked across many different domains—healthcare, satellite imagery, and agriculture, to name a few. He spent over seven years at Aetna/CVS, starting as a Senior Developer and working his way up to Engineering Manager, where he helped build mission-critical consumer apps for insurance management and provider scheduling. With more than five years in leadership roles, Darrin loves guiding teams and helping make the calls that keep projects moving in the right direction.

Darrin’s interest in AWS cloud engineering is a natural extension of his app development work. He’s a graduate of the AWS Cloud Institute and holds two AWS certifications in cloud engineering and development, with a real knack for enterprise event-driven system design. When he’s not working, you’ll find Darrin playing guitar—he even builds his own guitar pedals as a hobby—and putting his home roaster to work on small batches of coffee, with dreams of seeing his bags on local shelves someday.
