Clarissa Boschiero joined CDCB as a Bioinformatics Scientist in December 2024, bringing experience in molecular genetics, genomics, and bioinformatics. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in animal science from São Paulo State University in Brazil, where she specialized in animal genomics with a focus on identifying QTLs in chickens.

Before joining CDCB, Clarissa also contributed to animal genomics research at institutions such as the Roslin Institute in Scotland, the University of Maryland, and USDA AGIL. Her work included bioinformatics analyses of genetic variants and selection signature regions, GWAS, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and metagenomics. She assisted in the development of the first high-density SNP genotyping array for chickens. Clarissa has contributed to multiple publications and grant-funded projects.

In addition to her work in animal genomics, Clarissa worked with plant genomics at the Noble Research Institute, where she developed a plant genomic database for small peptides and applied machine learning to identify gene families for plant peptides.
